Public Transport & Travelcards

Kandara Guest House

The easiest and cheapest method to travel around London is by using Public Transport.

A one day bus card costs just £3.80 per day.  Some bus routes run every 3 minutes.

On arrival at Kandara we can provide you with a free bus and underground map of Central London. These are also available on request at most underground stations and can be viewed on www.tfl.gov.uk.

Travelcards

Purchase a one day Travelcard and use any bus or tube all day. These are available at any underground station and at the nearest newsagent shop to Kandara (on Essex Road).

London is divided into a series of Travelcard zones - these are shown on the maps available on the London Transport web site.

  • You will only need to purchase a Travelcard for zones 1 and 2 (from £5.60 per person) for travel in Central London.

  • You will need zones 1,2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 for travel to/from Heathrow Airport (from £7.50 per person).

There are also various other types of special cards such as 3 day Travelcards.

Oyster pre-pay

Oyster is London's new travel smartcard.  You simply touch it on the card readers at Tube and DLR stations and on buses.  When your Pre Pay runs out, just top it up.  Pre Pay is cheaper than paying for single tickets - and daily price capping on Pre Pay gives you the flexibility to change your travel plans without needing to buy additional tickets, or worry that you'll spend more than you need.
